Hytale servers run Hypixel Studios' official server software on Java. The panel downloads and updates it for you. One step is unique to Hytale: the server has to be signed in to a Hytale account once before players can join.

What it needs

Memory 4 GB minimum; 6–8 GB for more players or larger view distances.
Port Your server's port on Network, over UDP (Hytale uses the QUIC protocol).
1

First start

  1. Start the server. The first start downloads the server files and game assets (several GB), which takes a few minutes.
  2. Wait for the console to say the server has booted.
2

Sign the server in (one time)

Hytale servers must be authorised by a Hytale account. In the panel Console:

  1. Type /auth login device and press Enter.
  2. The console prints a link (https://accounts.hytale.com/device) and a code. Open the link, sign in with your Hytale account and enter the code. The code expires after 15 minutes.
  3. Back in the console, type /auth persistence Encrypted, so the server stays signed in after restarts (it stores an encrypted token in its files).
  4. Check with /auth status.
3

Join

  1. Start Hytale and open Servers.
  2. Choose Add Server and enter gameprod1.crashcrafts.com:<your port> (the port from Network).
  3. Join.
4

Become an operator

Operators can use all commands. In the panel Console type:

/op add YourHytaleName

The Allow Self-OP setting on Startup lets a player op themselves from in game: leave it off on public servers.

Settings on the Startup page

Setting What it does
Server Version / Patchline latest on the release patchline keeps you on the current public version. pre-release gets test builds (players must be on the same patchline).
Auto Update Updates the server on each start. Keep it on so players' clients match.
Enable World Backups / Backup Frequency / Backup Max Count Hytale's own world backups: every n minutes, keeping the last n.
Enable Server Backup / Server Backup Retention Backs up the whole server folder before updates.
Ignore Broken Mods Start anyway if a mod fails to load (handy while testing; off for normal play).
Load Early Plugins Allows "early" plugins that hook into the server at start-up. Only for plugins that say they need it.
Use AOT Cache Faster start-up. Leave on.
Transport QUIC (default). Leave it.
