Geyser and Floodgate for phone and console players, done right

Geyser lets Minecraft Bedrock Edition players (phones, tablets, Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, Windows Bedrock) join your Java server. Floodgate lets them join without owning a Java account.

The one rule: one Geyser per address

Geyser listens on its own UDP port. Bedrock players connect to that port, and Geyser translates their game into Java.

Your setup Install Geyser on Install Floodgate on

Get a port for Geyser

Geyser needs a port that players can reach over UDP.

  • Option A (simplest): use your game port. In Geyser's config.yml set bedrock.clone-remote-port: true, so Geyser uses the same port number as Java. Bedrock players join with the same address and port. On Velocity, that's the Velocity port.
  • Option B: a separate port. Ask us for an extra allocation on your server. It shows on Network. Set bedrock.port to that number.
2

Install

  1. Stop the server (or Velocity).

  2. Install Geyser for your platform (Paper/Spigot, Fabric or Velocity) and Floodgate from Minecraft Plugins, or from geysermc.org/download.

  3. Start once, then Stop. Geyser creates its config:

    • Paper: plugins/Geyser-Spigot/config.yml
    • Fabric: config/Geyser-Fabric/config.yml
    • Velocity: plugins/Geyser-Velocity/config.yml
  4. Edit the config:

    bedrock:
port: 19132 # or your extra port (Option B)
clone-remote-port: true # Option A: use the Java port
    remote:
auth-type: floodgate # Bedrock players don't need a Java account

  5. Velocity networks only: copy key.pem from plugins/floodgate/ on Velocity into the floodgate folder of every back-end (plugins/floodgate/ on Paper, config/floodgate/ on Fabric). Every server must have the same key.

  6. Start everything. The console should say Geyser started on your port.

3

Join from Bedrock

  1. In Bedrock, go to Play → Servers → Add Server.
  2. Server Address: gameprod1.crashcrafts.com (or your SRV domain). Port: your Geyser port.
  3. Save and join.

Consoles can't add custom servers directly. Players use an app such as BedrockTogether (mobile) or change their console's DNS. See Geyser's guide.

Things to know

  • Bedrock usernames get a prefix (default .), so whitelist them as .PlayerName.
  • Every server behind Geyser must accept the Java version Geyser imitates. Usually that's the newest; ViaVersion on the server or proxy helps.
  • Some Java-only features (custom items, some resource packs, a few mods) don't show for Bedrock players.
