Edit gameplay settings

Rates, death penalty, base limits and the rest live in one long line in Pal/Saved/Config/LinuxServer/PalWorldSettings.ini.

  1. Stop the server.
  2. Open the file in Files. Everything is on a single line starting OptionSettings=( and ending ), with settings separated by commas.
  3. Change only the values you need, keeping every comma and bracket. One missing comma or bracket makes the server ignore the whole line and start with defaults, with no error.
  4. Save, then Start.

Settings worth changing

Setting Default What it does
ExpRate 1.000000 XP multiplier. 2.0 doubles levelling speed.

Admin commands

Claim admin first with /AdminPassword <password> in chat. Then:

Command Does
/ShowPlayers Lists players with their Steam/user IDs.
/Info Server version and info.
/Save Saves the world now.
/Broadcast <message> Message to everyone (use _ for spaces on some versions).
/KickPlayer <SteamID or UserID> Kicks a player.
/BanPlayer <SteamID or UserID> Bans a player.
/UnBanPlayer <SteamID or UserID> Lifts a ban.
/TeleportToPlayer <ID> / /TeleportToMe <ID> Teleports.
/Shutdown <seconds> <message> Graceful shutdown with a countdown.
/DoExit Stops immediately (avoid; use Shutdown).

You can type the same commands without the / in the panel Console, e.g. ShowPlayers or Save. The panel passes them to the server's admin (RCON) connection using your Admin Password.

Regular restarts and backups

Palworld's memory use climbs over time. A restart every 6–12 hours keeps it fast:

  1. Schedules → Create: Restart, with hour */6 (every 6 hours) or */12, minute 0 (times are UTC).
  2. Tasks: Send Command → Broadcast Restarting_in_1_minute, then Send Command → Save (offset 30), then Send Power Action → Restart (offset 30).

Back up Pal/Saved with a backup schedule: a Save command, then Create Backup 15 seconds later.
